This policy explains which data is processed when you use the app SchreibMama English and the website schreibmama.de.

In short: SchreibMama English works without an account. Profiles, progress, results and your own words stay on the device. The app has no adverts and no tracking: no advertising IDs are read, no advertising profiles are built and no data is passed to ad networks.

2. Using the app without an account

The app can be used without registering. Profiles, learning progress, quiz results, weekly goals, rewards and words you add yourself are stored only on the device and are not sent to us. Uninstalling the app deletes this data.

3. Looking up word forms ("My words")

When you add your own word and tap the lookup, the app asks English Wiktionary (Wikimedia Foundation, Inc., USA) for its forms (plural, past tense …). Only the typed word is sent; like any web request, Wikimedia sees your IP address. Nothing is sent unless you tap the lookup. 4. [IF ACCOUNTS] Optional account and cloud backup

If you want to back up learning statistics across devices, you can create an account. We then process your email address and sign-in data, your name if Apple or Google passes it on, profiles, progress, quiz results and your own word lists. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) UK GDPR / EU GDPR (performance of the contract). Sign-in and storage use Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore) by Google Ireland Limited. Google may also process data in the USA; transfers rely on the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework / the EU adequacy decision and on standard contractual clauses. You can delete the account in the app at any time; the stored data is then removed.

5. [IF ANALYTICS] Usage statistics

Firebase Analytics is used only after a parent explicitly agrees in the app. With consent we process a random app-instance ID (no advertising ID), screens viewed and goals created or reached, platform, device model, OS and app version, language and the approximate country. We never collect names, email addresses, typed words or reward texts. Legal basis: consent (Art. 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw consent at any time in Settings → App info → Usage analysis; data is kept for at most 14 months.

6. [IF SUBSCRIPTION] Subscriptions

In-app purchases are managed with RevenueCat, Inc. (USA): a pseudonymous user ID, device and store information and the subscription status. Payment is handled only by the Apple App Store or Google Play; we never receive card or bank details. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b); transfers rely on standard contractual clauses.

7. Speech output

Words are spoken from audio recorded into the app. Example sentences and some words use the device's own text-to-speech; whether the device sends text to its maker's service depends on the voice chosen in the system settings.

8. Website

schreibmama.de is a static website without cookies or external fonts or scripts. The host (IONOS SE, Germany) processes technically necessary server logs (IP address, time, file requested). Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f).

9. Children

SchreibMama English is made for children practising with their parents. It contains no adverts and no chat. An account should only be created by a parent or guardian. The app is designed along the principles of the UK ICO Age Appropriate Design Code: high privacy by default, no profiling, data stays on the device unless a parent chooses otherwise.

10. Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 UK GDPR / EU GDPR). You can complain to a supervisory authority, in the UK the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk), in Germany the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (BayLDA).
